The Green Corner Unveiled in Muharraq: A Hub of Art Restoration and Environmental Wisdom
In a significant announcement, the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research has introduced The Green Corner in Muharraq. This newly established structure, situated adjacent to the vertical garden, holds a multifaceted purpose.
The primary function of The Green Corner is to serve as a venue for the restoration of paintings and documents. Beyond that, it proudly houses an archive that showcases the vibrant art scene of Bahrain. In addition, the center boasts a comprehensive environmental and ecological library.
This architectural endeavor is a collaborative cultural venture between the UAE and Bahrain. As a tribute to the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who played a pivotal role in strengthening the bilateral relations between these two nations, the project aims to celebrate their shared heritage and affinity.
Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, the UAE’s Minister of Culture and Youth, emphasized the profound connection between the two countries: “The UAE and Bahrain are bound by time-honoured ties, where the Kingdom lies in the heart of every Emirati. That’s why we are here today, participating in the opening of this landmark project in the historical city of Muharraq where plastic and popular arts significantly contribute to strengthening sustainable development.”
As a reminder, there are only a few days left to explore the latest exhibition hosted by the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research. Named “The Great Lockdown Exhibition,” this showcase, situated at Bin Matar House, delves into artists’ responses to the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year.
The exhibition remains accessible until Tuesday, February 9. Operating hours are from 9 am to 1 pm from Saturday to Thursday, and from 4 pm to 7 pm on Fridays.
