Manama, Bahrain – Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, recently hosted an important meeting with Matthew Luckhurst, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of APM Terminals. The gathering served as an opportunity to discuss significant developments in the maritime freight industry, particularly concerning the Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP), and to explore avenues for optimizing logistical operations.

During the meeting, the two leaders delved into APM Terminals’ forward-looking plans aimed at bolstering maritime freight activities at the bustling Khalifa Bin Salman Port. The port, strategically located in the heart of Bahrain, plays a pivotal role in the region’s trade and commerce, making its efficient operation and expansion of utmost importance. Enhancing the capacity and efficiency of KBSP is a key priority for both the Bahraini government and APM Terminals, as it not only facilitates global trade but also strengthens Bahrain’s position as a maritime and logistics hub.

Discussions during the meeting also revolved around innovative approaches and strategies to enhance the overall management and logistics operations at the port. The efficient handling of cargo, streamlined processes, and improved infrastructure are crucial elements in ensuring the seamless flow of goods and services in and out of KBSP. It was emphasized that modernizing and optimizing these aspects would not only benefit APM Terminals but also contribute to Bahrain’s broader economic goals.

Minister Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative efforts between the government and APM Terminals, recognizing the importance of the private sector’s involvement in realizing the country’s transportation and trade objectives. He further highlighted that such partnerships serve as a testament to Bahrain’s commitment to fostering economic growth and prosperity.

Matthew Luckhurst, CEO of APM Terminals, reiterated the company’s dedication to playing a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of KBSP.
