In an exciting turn of events, Qatar is set to host the highly anticipated ‘Web Summit’ for the first time in the MENA region, with the inaugural event scheduled from February 26 to 29, 2024, and a commitment to continue for the next five years.
Leading up to its role as the host nation, representatives from Qatar Tourism actively participated in the Web Summit 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal, establishing connections with influential figures in the technology industry who are anticipated to attend the groundbreaking Web Summit edition in Qatar.
The Web Summit Qatar, slated to take place from February 26 to 29, 2024, is positioned to serve as a catalyst, connecting the global tech community with burgeoning ecosystems across the Middle East, Africa, and India. Over the next five years, it is set to unlock fresh opportunities for international investors and industry leaders, fostering connections, networking, and collaboratively shaping a future driven by innovation.
Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office (GCO), shared insights into Qatar’s active participation in the Web Summit Lisbon, expressing a commitment to leave a distinctive mark. He stated, “We aspire to amplify our distinguished technological status, transforming Doha into a vibrant hub for technology and a nucleus for innovation. This aligns with our vision for the Qatar National Vision 2030, aiming to bolster tech investments and contribute to the diversification of the Qatari economy.”
Eng Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at Qatar Tourism, highlighted the country’s appeal as a destination for major business events. Qatar’s developed infrastructure, including its airport, a growing network of international flights, and expansions in the hospitality sector, forms a robust foundation for attracting business visitors.
