Bahrain Illuminates Landmarks in Red to Celebrate UAE Historic Hope Probe Triumph
In a show of solidarity and celebration, Bahrain’s iconic landmarks were bathed in red radiance on Tuesday, February 9, to commemorate the remarkable success of the UAE’s Hope Probe.
Recently, the Emirates Mars Mission achieved a monumental feat by successfully entering Mars’ orbit after a seven-month interplanetary journey, marking a significant milestone for space exploration. The achievement not only established the UAE as the first Arab nation but also the fifth globally to conquer the challenging endeavor of reaching Mars.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the UAE, acknowledging the historic significance of the achievement. He praised the UAE’s pivotal role in space exploration, highlighting the accomplishment as a source of pride for both Arab and Islamic nations.
Among the Bahraini landmarks that joined in the jubilation were the Bahrain World Trade Centre, the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay, and the Isa Town gate. These illuminated structures symbolized the unity and shared success of the Gulf region.
The visionary Emirates Mars Mission and the inception of the Hope Probe were unveiled in 2014. The remarkable journey of the Hope Probe began on July 20, 2020, with its launch from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Station.
With a weight of approximately 1,350 kilograms, equivalent to a small car, the Hope Probe carries three essential instruments designed to measure and analyze the Martian atmosphere. The probe’s mission entails remaining in a scientific orbit for a complete Martian year, equivalent to 687 days on Earth. Throughout this duration, it will continue capturing images of Mars and transmitting them to the Earth station, contributing to the advancement of interplanetary knowledge and exploration.
