World Motorcycle Championship: Rescheduling the Australian Grand Prix Due to Severe Weather Conditions

Sydney, October 20th – The organizers of the World Motorcycle Championship “MotoGP” category have announced today the rescheduling of the Australian Grand Prix, the sixteenth round of the competition, from Sunday to Saturday due to severe weather conditions and high winds.

The main race, consisting of 27 laps initially scheduled for Sunday, will be held on Saturday due to the anticipation of winds reaching speeds of up to 65 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, the “Sprint” race, consisting of 13 laps, will be moved to the following day, provided that conditions permit.

The decision was made proactively by the organizers of the world championship to ensure the best and safest possible showcase for all competitors and the audience who will be following the Grand Prix’s competitions at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit this weekend.

The unusual decision was made after the completion of the second practice session at the Phillip Island Circuit, where South African rider Brad Binder, representing “KTM,” showed impressive speed.

It’s worth noting that the Australian Grand Prix has a rich history, dating back to 1937, with Italian rider Valentino Rossi being the most successful participant, closely followed by the Australian Casey Stoner.
