Bahrain Implements Third PCR Test for Travelers
Bahrain has taken additional steps to enhance its COVID-19 testing protocols for incoming travelers, as announced by the Ministry of Health. The adjustments include the implementation of a third coronavirus test for all arrivals.
Presently, individuals entering the Kingdom undergo a swab test upon arrival, followed by a mandatory self-isolation period until negative results are received. Subsequently, they are free to resume their activities, with a second test administered ten days after arrival.
Under the new regulations, travelers will undergo an additional PCR test on the fifth day after entering Bahrain. These updated measures are scheduled to be effective from Monday, February 22.
In conjunction with this announcement, the Ministry of Health has also revealed a reduction in the cost of mandatory PCR tests from BHD40 to BHD36.
These revised guidelines extend to travelers crossing the King Fahad Causeway. Drivers using the causeway can either undergo testing upon arrival or present a negative test conducted within the 72-hour period before entering the Kingdom.
Individuals testing positive at any point will be contacted by the Ministry of Health, who will provide guidance for the necessary next steps.
This development follows the closure of the UK-Bahrain travel corridor last month. Previously, travelers from Bahrain were exempt from the ten-day self-isolation requirement upon entering the UK. However, the UK government has since removed all exemptions. Only those who test negative after taking a test on the fifth day following arrival will be eligible for a shortened self-isolation period.
