Food News Kingdom Of Bahrain: Temporary Closure of Restaurants and Facilities
In a bid to implement new measures against the ongoing challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus in Bahrain has announced the temporary closure of restaurants and cafes for a period of two weeks.
Effective from midnight today, Thursday, May 27, until midnight on Thursday, June 10, dining establishments will solely be allowed to offer delivery and takeaway services.
As part of these stringent measures, various other facilities will also be closed during this period. This includes gyms, sports halls, beaches, swimming pools, salons, barbers, and cinemas. Additionally, malls and commercial shops will be closed temporarily.
However, essential services will continue to operate without disruption. Hypermarkets, supermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, banks, and pharmacies will remain open to cater to the public’s needs.
In alignment with the goal of curbing the virus’s spread, all social gatherings within homes are prohibited. Furthermore, in-person learning at schools, kindergartens, nurseries, and universities has been suspended.
Bahrain is simultaneously intensifying its vaccination efforts to counter the challenges posed by the pandemic. The daily vaccination capacity is being ramped up to accommodate up to 31,000 doses per day.
Individuals who have been in close proximity to a confirmed COVID-19 case are required to observe home quarantine and activate the quarantine feature on the BeAware Bahrain app promptly.
For close contacts displaying symptoms who are aged 50 and above, testing will be conducted on both the first and tenth day of their quarantine. On the other hand, individuals aged 49 and under will undergo testing only on the tenth day.
To facilitate accessibility, the cost of rapid antigen tests has been reduced to BHD2.5. Those receiving a positive antigen test result can conveniently proceed to a drive-through center for a PCR test.
Despite these closures, the King Fahd Causeway will remain open, and the existing entry procedures to Bahrain will remain unchanged and enforced.
