Tom Cruise Lands in Abu Dhabi for Middle East Premiere of Mission: Impossible Touching down at the Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal, Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has graced the UAE with his presence for the Middle East premiere of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” This action-packed film’s crucial sequences were filmed on location at the terminal, further cementing the city’s role in the movie industry. The premiere is scheduled to take place at the lavish Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental.
As the lead in the much-anticipated seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Tom Cruise arrived on the inaugural flight to the newly opened Midfield Terminal at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. This momentous event was reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
To commemorate this cinematic milestone, Tom Cruise revealed a distinctive Mission: Impossible-themed livery on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner. In an exciting collaboration, Etihad Airways, the movie’s official airline, will showcase the film’s branding on this aircraft as it traverses global destinations.
The Midfield Terminal’s iconic architecture was adorned with a similar theme, acknowledging its integral role in the movie’s creation. A pivotal action sequence, renowned for its complexity and thrills, was filmed atop the terminal’s impressive 315-meter roof.
When the movie hits theaters on July 13, audiences will get an exclusive glimpse of the terminal’s interior for the first time. The film, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” also encompasses purpose-built sets within the airport premises, including an Etihad First Class Lounge, in addition to scenes beautifully captured in the stunning Liwa Desert.
Elena Sorlini, Acting CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, highlighted that the movie’s incorporation of the terminal’s architecture underscores its cultural influence, drawing inspiration from Abu Dhabi’s rich heritage.
The meticulous production of scenes at the Midfield Terminal involved an extensive preparation period of 21 days, followed by seven days of intensive filming involving a cast, crew, and suppliers totaling 762 individuals. Notably, this marks the second “Mission: Impossible” film shot in Abu Dhabi. The 2018 production featured a HALO sky-diving scene, with support from the UAE military, Abu Dhabi Film Commission, and twofour54.
