Successful 10th Edition of IPEM in Cannes: Recap of the International Conference: The 10th installment of IPEM, held at the prestigious Palais des Festivals in Cannes, marked a triumphant success, drawing in the crème de la crème of the European private markets industry. Boasting an impressive 28% growth compared to the previous year, the event brought together over 3,300 attendees, including 483 GPs, 322 investors, and 306 advisors, representing 1,307 companies from 46 countries.
Commencing with a morning session dedicated to exploring the evolving role of Limited Partners (LPs), the second day of IPEM set the stage for insightful discussions. Following a day filled with yoga, sector-specific dialogues, networking, and delightful evenings, the morning session delved into knowledge-sharing, with a palpable enthusiasm emanating from private markets practitioners.
The central theme of the first session revolved around “How does the practical rebalancing of power work?” featuring insights from Anastasia Amoroso, Chief Investment Strategist at iCapital, and Bruno Sollazo, Group Head of PE Investments at Generali. Discussions underscored the remarkable growth of the private markets industry over the last decade, attracting heightened interest from private investors and regulatory attention.
Anastasia Amoroso emphasized the significance of transparency and compliance as the sector aims for a potential $28 trillion in the next 15 years. Recent SEC regulations introduced last summer underscore the industry’s need for increased transparency.
The latter part of the day featured engaging summit sessions, covering topics such as energy transition, private debt, private markets consolidation, and the rise of continuation funds. Discussions shed light on the growing importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) integration and climate mapping in shaping investment decisions.
The summit on energy transition highlighted crucial subjects, including ESG integration and climate roadmaps as indispensable considerations. Speakers emphasized the necessity of aligning investments with climate impact and biodiversity.
In conclusion of this memorable edition, Antoine Colson, CEO, and Managing Partner of IPEM, expressed gratitude to the participants, contributing to making this 10th edition an exceptional experience. “We look forward to reconnecting with you in September 2024 in Paris for our grand international fundraising gathering!”
The event wrapped up with a celebratory cocktail on the terrace, offering participants a moment of relaxation and networking as the sun gracefully set over the picturesque city of Cannes.
