Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its strategic partnership with Pakistan by signing consultancy contracts worth $121 million for key health and energy projects. These initiatives underscore the strong diplomatic and economic relationship between the two countries, highlighting Riyadh’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development in vital sectors.
A central focus is healthcare. The King Salman Hospital in Tarlai will benefit from a $20 million grant, aimed at upgrading facilities, improving patient care, and providing access to advanced medical services for thousands of residents. This investment reflects Saudi Arabia’s dedication to strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure.
In addition, Saudi Arabia is providing concessional loans to finance two major hydropower projects: Shounter ($66 million) and Jagran ($35 million). These projects are designed to expand Pakistan’s renewable energy capacity, enhance sustainability, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. By investing in hydropower, Saudi Arabia supports Pakistan’s transition toward a greener energy future.
Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki emphasized that these projects reflect the long-term and multifaceted relationship between the nations. “Our support extends beyond financial assistance; it represents a sustained commitment to Pakistan’s growth and prosperity,” he said.
Pakistan’s Dr. Kazim Niaz praised Saudi Arabia’s ongoing contributions, noting previous grants totaling $533 million and concessional loans of $1.2 billion. He emphasized that these resources have already helped improve healthcare, energy infrastructure, and public services, directly impacting millions of Pakistanis.
By investing in both healthcare and renewable energy, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are strengthening a partnership that combines strategic foresight with tangible benefits for citizens. These projects are expected to create jobs, improve public services, and foster long-term sustainable development.
The collaboration highlights how shared objectives in economic growth, social progress, and environmental sustainability can deepen bilateral ties. As these initiatives advance, they reinforce a vision for regional stability and prosperity, demonstrating the transformative potential of international cooperation. Saudi Arabia’s continued support signals a strong, enduring partnership focused on the well-being of Pakistan’s people.
