UAE Students to Benefit from One of the Region’s Longest Holiday Schedules

The Ministry of Education in the UAE has announced the official school calendar for the 2025–26 academic year, offering students a notably generous schedule. Across the 313-day academic year, students will have 178 instructional days, while the remaining 135 days will cover weekends, public holidays, and term breaks.

The breakdown of the school year includes 68 weekends, four public holidays, and midterm breaks: seven days for the first-semester midterm, five days for the second-semester midterm, and seven days for the third-semester midterm. Additionally, students will enjoy a 30-day winter holiday and a 14-day spring break, providing ample time for relaxation, family, and personal growth.

The calendar has been strategically aligned with major holidays. Eid Al Fitr coincides with the spring break, offering families the opportunity to celebrate together. Eid Al Adha occurs during the third-term midterm, and New Year’s Day falls within the winter holiday, allowing students to observe these occasions without interrupting learning.

Education authorities emphasized the balance between academic requirements and student wellbeing. Midterm breaks, extended winter holidays, and the spring vacation are designed to reduce stress and give students the opportunity to recharge. This careful planning ensures both academic continuity and personal development.

The generous holiday schedule is among the most accommodating in the region, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to student welfare and family-centered values. Parents, students, and schools can plan effectively for travel, extracurricular programs, and cultural activities thanks to the clear organization of the calendar.

Overall, the 2025–26 school year demonstrates a thoughtful approach to education, combining sufficient instructional time with well-timed breaks, fostering both academic success and cultural engagement.
